Odoo vs Cin7

Cin7 is a capable multichannel inventory and order platform with a large integration catalogue, sold in two products (Core and Omni). Odoo competes as a single owned system where inventory, orders and accounting are the same records rather than synced apps. Both run product businesses well; the split is depth, ownership and how the price behaves at scale.

Where the real differences are

• What Cin7 does well. Strong multichannel inventory and order management with a large catalogue of ready integrations, and quicker to stand up than a full ERP build. For a brand whose core need is stock and order sync across channels, it is genuinely competent.
• Two products, and the complexity question. Cin7 splits into Core and Omni, and users frequently describe the fuller product as bloated or more complex than their needs, paying for surface area they do not use. Odoo’s modularity means you run only the apps you switch on, so the system matches your operation rather than the reverse.
• Cost at scale. Cin7 is subscription SaaS, with third-party estimates around $18,000 to $30,000 a year at roughly $10M revenue, and it climbs with usage. Odoo’s per-user licensing (or free Community) does not track your order volume. Model both at your real scale, not year one.
• Synced apps versus one system. Cin7 syncs inventory and orders and then integrates to a separate accounting system such as Xero or QuickBooks. Odoo makes stock, orders and accounting the same database, which removes an entire reconciliation layer and the drift that comes with it. For finance integrity at volume, that architecture matters.
• Where Cin7 genuinely wins. If you want fast multichannel stock and order sync, a big catalogue of ready integrations, and you are content to keep accounting separate, Cin7 is a strong, lower-lift option and Odoo would be more system than you need.
• Where Odoo genuinely wins. One owned system instead of synced apps, accounting native to operations, cost that does not climb with usage, and depth (manufacturing, B2B, bespoke logic, EDI) that Cin7 does not reach. Our proof sits at that depth end.
