Quickodoo vs Traditional Consulting
Traditional Odoo consulting bills by the day against an open-ended scope, which works fine until the days multiply and the scope creeps. Quickodoo exists because plenty of businesses want a defined outcome for a defined price instead.
Here’s the honest comparison, including where traditional consulting is genuinely the better choice.
What this looks like in practice
- Fixed price versus day rate. Quickodoo fixes the price against a written scope; consulting bills days as they’re used. For a well-understood need, the fixed price removes the risk of an overrun you can’t predict.
- Defined scope versus open scope. Quickodoo’s scope is agreed up front, so both sides can point at it. Open-scope engagements are flexible but that flexibility is where budgets quietly disappear.
- Predictable timeline. A Quickodoo tier has a fixed timeline (4 to 10 weeks by tier) rather than a programme that stretches. Predictability is often worth more than theoretical flexibility.
- Where consulting genuinely wins. Genuinely complex, non-standard operations, or ones still discovering their own requirements, are better served by a scoped custom implementation than forced into a fixed tier.
- You can have both. Start with a Quickodoo tier for the well-understood core, and take the genuinely bespoke parts as separate, scoped custom work. Fixed where it can be, flexible where it must be.
How the fixed price stays fixed
- A scope written down first. The apps, connectors and configuration are agreed and documented before we begin, so both sides can point at what was promised.
- Priced against that scope. The number is fixed against the written scope. Vague requirements get discovery questions, not a padded number.
- Added scope is quoted separately. If you want more later, that’s its own quoted piece of work, which is exactly what keeps the original price honest rather than a moving target.
- Delivered on staging with checkpoints. Configuration lands on staging and is reviewed with you as it grows, so there’s no gap between what was scoped and what arrives.
- A clear path to extend. The tiers build on each other, so growing later adds scope without redoing the foundation.
