FAQ

Common questions

Can a UK-based seller trade on bol.com?
Yes, but not as a UK company on its own. bol.com requires an EU-registered selling entity and stock held inside the EU, through Fulfilment by bol.com (FBB) or an EU-based 3PL, plus EU VAT registration. Those are things you arrange with your accountant and logistics provider. What we build is the connector and the Odoo side, configured for your EU entity, VAT treatment and EU stock location so the day to day actually runs. Technotrading, a Belgium-based seller we support, runs on exactly this kind of EU setup.
Does bol.com require a local Dutch or Belgian entity?
It requires an EU-registered entity, though not necessarily a Dutch or Belgian one: any EU member-state entity works. A UK company on its own is not sufficient, and you will also need EU VAT registration. We are not company-formation or tax advisers, but once your entity and VAT position exist we configure Odoo's companies, fiscal positions and VAT to match them.
What's the difference between FBB and FBR, and does it change the integration?
FBB (Fulfilment by bol.com, called LVB in Dutch, similar to Amazon FBA) means bol.com holds and ships your stock, tracked in Odoo as a bol.com-owned location. FBR (Fulfilled by Retailer) means you fulfil it yourself, but because bol.com requires EU-held stock that means shipping from an EU-based warehouse or 3PL, not from the UK. Either way the connector maps orders to the right stock location, and most sellers run a mix.
We already sell on Shopify or Amazon. Does adding bol.com mean a separate system?
No, that's the point of doing this properly. bol.com becomes another sales channel feeding the same Odoo stock pool, order pipeline and accounts as everything else, so you're not reconciling a second spreadsheet just because the marketplace is different.
Can we buy the bol.com connector on its own, or does it require a full Odoo implementation?
If you're already running Odoo, the bol.com connector can be added on its own. If you're not on Odoo yet, it usually makes sense as part of a fuller implementation so stock, accounting and your other channels are set up to actually use what bol.com feeds in. We'll tell you honestly which situation you're in before quoting.
