Odoo Implementation for Retail/Ecommerce

Retail implementations have their own physics: stock accuracy is existential, trading doesn’t pause for projects, and the software has to serve the shop floor at 5:30pm on a Saturday, not just the back office on a quiet Tuesday. Generic ERP implementation processes break against those constraints.

Retail and ecommerce is our declared specialism. This is the implementation service shaped around POS, multi-channel stock, storefront integration and the operational reality of brands that sell every day.

What the work involves

  • Channel-complete design. Website, marketplaces, POS and wholesale designed as one stock pool and one order pipeline from day one, because retrofitting channel coherence is far more expensive than building it.
  • POS that survives the queue. Point of Sale configured for real counter speed: barcode flows, returns and exchanges, offline resilience, end-of-day cash control that reconciles.
  • Stock accuracy as a discipline. Cycle counting, adjustment reasons and reorder rules configured as working processes, not features that exist. Retail dies by stock drift; we build the immune system.
  • Peak-aware cutover. Go-lives scheduled around your trading calendar, with phased channel activation so you’re never betting Black Friday on day one of a new system.
  • Retail-specific proof. This is the work behind our DTC womenswear implementation and the multi-store COGS build.

How the implementation runs

  1. Discovery workshop. We map how orders, stock and money actually move through your business today, including the workarounds nobody mentions in meetings.
  2. Design and fixed scope. You get a written design with clear in/out boundaries and an effort estimate in hours you can hold us to.
  3. Staged build with weekly checkpoints. Configuration and any custom work land on a staging environment, reviewed with you as it grows rather than revealed at the end.
  4. Data migration and rehearsal. Your team runs real workflows on staging with real data until the rehearsal is boring. Boring is the goal.
  5. Rehearsed go-live. A planned cutover with role-based training and a rollback path. Senior oversight from our UK base throughout, with delivery supported by our India team.

Common questions

Can you migrate us mid-season?
We can prepare mid-season and cut over at your trading trough. The staging rehearsal approach means the switch itself is short and rehearsed.
Does Odoo POS really compete with dedicated POS systems?
For most independent and multi-store retail, yes, and the integration dividend (one stock, one customer record) usually outweighs a niche POS feature gap. Where it genuinely doesn't fit, we'll say so.
How do you handle our size/colour matrix?
Product variants with proper attribute design, which sounds trivial and is actually where many retail implementations quietly fail. It's a first-week design decision we take seriously.
How do you handle our existing hardware (barcode scanners, receipt printers)?
Mainstream retail hardware works with Odoo's IoT approach; we validate your specific devices during scoping rather than promising blind and discovering exceptions at go-live.
Can trading data from our old system come across?
Sales history to an agreed depth, full customer records, open orders and current stock counts migrate with reconciliation checks. Deep transactional archives usually stay queryable in the old system read-only.
