Integrate Shipping Carriers with Odoo
Shipping is where operational friction becomes physically visible: mistyped addresses, wrong service levels, manual label sites, and customers emailing ‘where is my order?’. Carrier integration puts label generation, tracking and shipping rules inside Odoo, driven by order data instead of copy-paste.
We integrate the carriers that matter to UK and NL retail: Royal Mail, DPD, Evri, DHL, UPS, FedEx and PostNL, directly or through aggregators where that’s smarter.
What we connect
- Labels from the picking screen. Warehouse staff generate the correct carrier label at pack time, with weights and dimensions from Odoo product data, no separate carrier portal.
- Service-level rules. Shipping method selection can be automated by weight, destination, value and delivery promise, so the £2 large-letter item stops shipping on a £7 parcel service.
- Tracking back to the customer. Tracking numbers write back to the order and flow to your storefront, driving the customer’s shipping confirmation automatically.
- Multi-carrier rate logic. Where you run several carriers, rules or rate-shopping decide per parcel, reflecting your negotiated tariffs rather than list prices.
- International documentation. Customs data (HS codes, values, origin) from Odoo product records feeds CN22/CN23 and commercial invoice generation for post-Brexit EU shipping.
How logistics and trading partner integrations run
- Their requirements gathered first. Carrier, 3PL or retailer specifications collected up front: mandated formats, transport method, message types and the compliance rules they enforce on their side.
- Mapping and validation built per partner. Every partner has quirks. Their rules are enforced before a document leaves your system, because a rejected message is a delayed shipment or an unpaid invoice.
- Their test cycle, on their schedule. Partner onboarding and certification usually drives the timeline more than the development does. We plan around that honestly rather than promising dates we don’t control.
- Despatch rehearsal on real orders. Labels, despatch advices and documents generated against genuine order data on staging, checked by the people who will pack the boxes.
- Production with visible failures. Error queues, reasons and alerting from day one. At volume, a silent failure is the expensive kind, so nothing is allowed to fail quietly.
