Multi-store Shopify inventory

How do I manage stock across multiple Shopify stores?

A main site, a POS-linked physical shop and a wholesale store each running as their own Shopify instance means three separate product catalogues and three separate stock counts, by default. The fix is not more manual syncing between them. It is one shared backend all three stores draw from.

Why it splits apart

Why multiple stores drift out of step

Each store is a separate Shopify universe

Your main site, your POS-linked physical shop and your wholesale store each have their own product catalogue and their own stock count, by default. Nothing ties them together.

The same product exists three times

Update a price, a description or a stock level in one store and the other two do not know. Someone ends up copying changes across by hand, and eventually forgets one.

Wholesale and retail draw from stock no one is watching

A wholesale order can quietly eat into the same physical stock your retail store is selling, with neither store aware the other just moved the number.

Reporting means adding three exports together

Real sales and margin performance only becomes visible once someone has manually combined figures from every store, usually well after the month it happened in.

What good looks like

Three storefronts. One stock number underneath.

Every store, whichever channel or purpose it serves, draws from and writes to the same underlying stock figure. A wholesale order and a retail sale both hit the real number instantly, product data only needs updating once, and month-end reporting is a single accurate view rather than three exports stitched together by hand.

How we do it

Odoo runs the backend, every store connects to it

We build the shared stock and product backend on Odoo, the open-source commerce ERP, and connect each Shopify store to it with our own connector. Every store reads and writes the same figures, so nothing needs copying between them and nothing gets missed.

This is precisely the build we delivered for Gandys, a UK lifestyle brand running three separate Shopify stores: their main site (which also carried marketplace orders), a second store linked to their physical shop via Shopify POS, and a third for B2B wholesale. We unified all three onto one Odoo backend with accurate revenue assignment by channel and real landed product costing, replacing spreadsheet reconciliation entirely.
